Word that Jesus had raised Lazarus from the dead had spread, and many people believed in Him, even among the Jewish leaders, although these believers were afraid to say so. So many had believed that they lined the streets as Jesus came into Jerusalem. They were excited and enthusiastic about this leader who spoke with such authority and performed such miracles. People were spreading the word. But Jesus had not done His biggest miracle yet, and He talked about His coming crucifixion. He talked about how He had come to save the world. People were excited and talking about His relatively minor works, but His biggest accomplishments were yet to come: Dying to save people from their sin, to reconcile them with God and rising from the dead to give His people eternal life.
If you saw someone raise someone from the dead, you’d be excited and talk about it. But Jesus’ biggest work has been done in you. He has saved you from your sin. He has given you eternal life. We should be more excited and more determined to spread the word than the people of Jerusalem were.
Who will you tell about what Jesus has done for you?
