Jesus stopped at a well and spoke to a Samaritan woman. It is interesting to note that Jesus was “worn out from his journey.” Jesus got tired, just like we do, but He was still focused on doing the Father’s work. He speaks to this woman and quickly turns the discussion from physical water to spiritual water. He promises the woman “living water.” She is still thinking about running water that would allow her to not have to draw from the well, but as the conversation goes on, Jesus tells and shows her that He is the Messiah. The woman went back into town and told people that Jesus had told her everything she had done. The town asked Him to stay, and He spent two days there. Then they believed, not because of what the woman had said, but because of what they had heard from Jesus.
There’s a lot to be learned here. From Jesus being willing to speak with a woman who may have been an outcast, to the woman being quick to tell everyone what she had learned from Jesus, to the fact that the Lord can use anyone to lead people to Him. The bottom line is that we tell people what Jesus has done for us. In the end, they don’t believe because of what we say, but because of what they hear from Him. There is freedom in that.
Who do you need to tell about what Jesus has done for you?
