‘I was blind, and now I can see’ – John 9:13-41

Jesus healed the man born blind on the Sabbath. The Pharisees used this as an excuse to claim He was sinful and couldn’t be from God because He didn’t keep the Sabbath. They called the man in to be questioned, not once but twice. They called in his parents to make sure that he had actually been born blind. They grilled the man about Jesus, pushing him to declare Jesus a sinner. The man responded with what he knew: “One thing I do know: I was blind, and now I can see!” Verse 28 says that they ridiculed him, badgering him and trying to get him to declare Jesus was not a prophet. The man stood up for what he knew: He said Jesus had healed him and given him sight. He declared that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but He does listen to those who do His will. He told them that no one could open his eyes unless that person was from God.

The man didn’t have to debate the fine points of scripture and prophecy with the Pharisees. He only had to stick to what he knew, which is what Jesus had done for him. That is our best message, too. We have to share what Jesus has done for us. We don’t need months of training before we can share our faith. All we have to do is to tell others what Jesus has done for us.

What has Jesus done for you? How would you tell someone what the Lord has done for you? Pray about it and write it out so you are ready to share.
