A prayer for an undivided heart

Teach me Your way, Yahweh,
and I will live by Your truth.
Give me an undivided mind to fear Your name.
I will praise You with all my heart, Lord my God,
and will honor Your name forever.
For Your faithful love for me is great,
and You deliver my life from the depths of Sheol.  Psalm 86:11-13

Lord, give me an undivided mind to fear Your name.

Take away not just my sin, but the distractions, the pleasures, the other priorities that take me from You.

Give me a single-minded devotion to You. Let me praise You with ALL my heart. Help me not to praise You while thinking about what I will do after I praise You. Help me to think only about what You want me to do.

Lord, I have a divided mind. I love You. I am in awe of You. I worship You. But I am also consumed by my earthly concerns. Some of it is sin. Lord there are great reserves of evil in my heart and mind, reserves of wickedness, selfishness and rebellion. Father, drain these reserves, cleanse them and fill them with Your love, love for You, love for Your body, love for the lost. Make me reflect You, Lord. Make me love what You love and hate what You hate. Fill me with Your priorities, Your plans, Your will. Make me reflect You. Fill me with You so that when I am poured out, it is You that pours out of me rather than me.

Help me to be single-mindedly devoted to you, not concerned with my pleasures, my security, my comfort, always thinking of my earthly plans. Help me to remember what You have done for me, and let that spur me on to spread Your Word, to carry out Your plans for me, to seek You constantly. Let praise and prayer be my constant activities and focus.

Lord, give me an undivided mind to fear Your name, to praise Your name and to serve You.
